Japan Forum of Fetal Skeletal Dysplasia (JFFSD)

Japan Forum of Fetal Skeletal Dysplasia (JFFSD) is a group of physicians and researchers whose specialities cover skeletal dysplasia. The members are obstetricians, pediatricians, orthopedists, radiologists and genetic medical specialists. The aim of the group are to foster accurate diagnosis of fetus with skeletal dysplasia, to improve skills fo in utero diagnosis of physicians, and to investigate long term prognosis and prevalence of skeletal dysplasia. For theses purposes, the forum provides education to non-skeletal dysplasia specialists, consultation service for in utero diagnosis while accumulating of data including images of fetus, other clinical and genetic data. In addition to day-to-day communication among the members, periodic discussion meetings on accumulated valuable data stored in a server take place to improve the knowledge among the members, which in turn improves the education programs. The forum's activities are not only for scientific interests but also for improvement of medical care for and quality of life of patients and their families suffering from skeletal dysplasia.
