CONSTITUTION OF THE JAPANESE ASSOCIATION OF DEVELOPMENTAL AND COMPARATIVE IMMUNOLOGY

I. Name and Location
1. This organization shall be known as the Japanese Association of Developmental and Comparative Immunology (JADCI).
2. The location of the Association shall be at the place of employment or affiliation of the President, as stipulated in supplementary provisions. The Secretariat shall be located at the place of employment or affiliation of the officer in charge of general affairs and accounting.

II. Purpose
1. The purpose of this Association is to promote the advancement of research in developmental and comparative immunology.

III. Activities
1. To achieve its purpose, the Association shall engage in the following activities:
 1) Organizing academic conferences.
 2) Publishing abstracts of academic conferences.
 3) Issuing newsletters.
 4) Facilitating interactions with the International Society of Developmental and Comparative Immunology.
 5) Facilitating interactions with researchers in the Asia-Oceania region.
 6) Selecting and awarding the JADCI Furuta Award, the Furuta Encouragement Award, the Furuta Travel Award, and the Furuta Excellent Paper Award.
 7) Other activities deemed necessary to achieve the objectives of the Association.


IV. Membership

1. Membership in the Association shall be open to those who agree with its purpose and complete the prescribed membership procedures.
 1) Individual Members: Those who pay individual membership dues.
 2) Supporting Members: Those who agree with the purpose of the Association and continuously pay the supporting membership dues annually.
 3) A member who fails to pay membership dues for more than two years and does not respond to a reminder shall lose their membership status.
2. Honorary Presidents and Honorary Members shall be recommended by the Board of Directors with the consent of the individual and approved at the General Assembly.
 1) Honorary Presidents and Honorary Members are exempt from paying annual membership dues and conference fees.
 2) Honorary Presidents and Honorary Members do not have the right to vote or be elected.

V. Officers
1. The officers of the Association shall consist of one President, one Vice-President, one General Affairs and Accounting Officer, two Auditors, two Conference Officers, and two Public Relations Officers.
2. The President shall represent the Association, convene the Board of Directors, and preside over the General Assembly. If the President is unable to perform their duties due to unavoidable circumstances, the Vice-President or General Affairs Officer, in that order, shall act on behalf of the President.
3. The President shall be elected by the individual members through a vote, with the candidate receiving the most votes being elected. The Board of Directors may recommend candidates.
4. Individual members who have been members for more than one year before the announcement of the election have the right to vote and be elected.
5. The President shall appoint other officers.
6. The term of office for officers shall be two years, from September 1 to August 31 two years later, with the possibility of reappointment for one additional term. The auditors may not concurrently hold other positions.
7. The President may establish an Academic Committee and a Future Planning Committee.

VI. Meeting
1. The General Assembly is the decision-making body of the Association and shall be convened by the President in conjunction with the annual academic conference. It shall be composed of the members present.
2. The Board of Directors shall be convened by the President and shall generally be held once a year.
3. Decisions at the General Assembly require the approval of more than half of the members present.

VII. Accounting
1. The expenses of the Association shall be covered by membership dues and other sources of income. Membership dues shall be paid to the Secretariat.
2. The fiscal year shall begin on April 1 and end on March 31 of the following year.
3. The auditors shall review and approve the financial statements for the fiscal year promptly after the end of the fiscal year, and reports them to the general meeting.

VIII. Amendments to the Constitution
1. Amendments to this Constitution require the approval of more than two-thirds of the members present at the General Assembly.

Supplementary Provisions
1. The annual membership dues for Individual Members shall be 5,000 yen for general members and 3,000 yen for doctoral students.
2. Annual membership dues for student members (students below the doctoral level) and foreign members shall be waived.
3. The annual membership dues for Supporting Members shall be 20,000 yen per unit.
4. The Secretariat of the Association shall be located in the facilities of the institution to which the General Affairs and Accounting Officer is affiliated.
5. The Secretariat may appoint assistant officers equivalent to officers.
6. Only members may present at the academic conferences.
7. Details regarding the selection of the Furuta Award, the Furuta Encouragement Award, the Furuta Travel Award, and the Furuta Excellent Paper Award shall be determined separately.
