Become a member of the Japan Society for Medical Education (JSME)

• Annual membership fees (there are no initial registration fees; the fiscal year corresponding to the one-year membership starts in JUNE and ends in MAY of the following year)

  Individual	10,000 yen
  Student	3,000 yen
  Organization	80,000 yen
  Supporting Member	50,000 yen (one donation)

• Approval to become a JSME member is given the month after the application is submitted (e.g., if you apply to become a member in September, you will be given member status in October). The invoice for the membership fee will be sent to you roughly one month after applying.
• How to apply for Individual or Student membership: Click the [Proceed to membership application] button below which will display the web page for applying to become a JSME member. Please note that the web page for applying for JSME membership is run by the Association for Supporting Academic Societies, which JSME has contracted to carry out admin tasks.

  Rights and privileges for individual/student members

  • Members have the right to publish in the JSME journal as first authors.
  • Members enjoy a discount when paying the participation fees for the annual JSME conference.
  • Copies of the JSME journal (6 issues per year) will be mailed to members free of charge. For overseas members, it will be sent by surface mail.
  • Members have the right to be elected and serve on various JSME committees / subcommittees.
• Once an application is submitted, an automatic confirmation email containing the following message will be sent to the registered email address in Japanese.

• Those wishing to apply for Organization or Support membership should contact the JSME Administration Office using the details provided below. We will mail you the respective application forms.

  Rights and privileges for organization members

  • Your organization name will be displayed in each issue of the JSME Journal (PR value for institutions engaged in education).
  • You will enjoy preferential access and discount participation fees for the “Workshop for Medical Educators” (known as the “Fujiken Workshop”) hosted by JSME and jointly held in collaboration with MEXT (Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and MHLW (Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare).
  • You gain the right to publish in the JSME Journal and on the JSME home page articles related to personnel recruitment for positions in the field of education.  
  • You will get preferential treatment regarding the requirements for publishing articles in the JSME Journal.
  • The JSME White Paper (issued once every 4 years) will be mailed to you free of charge.
  • Two copies of the JSME journal (6 issues per year) will be mailed to you free of charge.
  • You will gain the right to vote (one vote) in electing JSME delegates (the nomenclature has changed from “councilor” to “delegate” following incorporation).
  • You will be preferentially issued materials related to medical education.
• After you join JSME, we will mail you (within the available stock of remaining issues) all issues published in that fiscal year starting with Issue No. 1.
• The name and address you provided will only be used for society-related purposes and will not be used for other purposes.
