Medical Education in Japan
Medical education in Japan has been undergoing significant transformation in recent years, amidst major societal changes such as the revision of the Model Core Curriculum and duty hour regulations. The members of the 22nd-term Internationalization Committee provide updates on Japanese medical education for international participants of the JSME conference, helping to build a foundation for better understanding the context of various presentations given during the conference. Additionally, the video aims to foster communication and potential academic collaborations between participants from overseas.
This video features committee members who articulate the current state of "Diversity and Inclusion" in Japanese health professions education, not only in medical education but also in fields like nursing and teaching non-native English-speaking students. Following the information sharing, participants from overseas are encouraged to engage in a discussion comparing health professions education in their own countries with the current situation in Japan. Through this interaction, rather than a one-way transmission of information from Japan to the world, the mutual understanding of health professions education will deepen between Japanese and international participants.
