Announcement from the Japan Society for Medical Education (JSME)

Professor. Hiroshi Nishigori, president of our society, has been selected as a 2025 KIPRIME (Karolinska Institutet Prize for Research in Medical Education) Fellow in recognition of his international achievements in the field of medical education research. This marks the first time a Japanese individual has been selected for this honor.

The KIPRIME Fellows program is jointly administered by the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden and the Gunnar Höglund & Anna-Stina Malmborg Foundation. It primarily targets mid-career medical education researchers and aims to nourish the next generation of KIPRIME winners.
Every two years, 14 to 15 researchers who have achieved internationally outstanding results in medical education research are selected. Those selected are provided with opportunities to participate in workshops hosted by the Karolinska Institutet to expand their international networks. Dr. Nishigori participated in a workshop held in Stockholm, Sweden from October 5 to 8, 2025, where he deepened his exchanges with past KIPRIME Prize recipients and other researchers selected this year.
