The Department of Global and Community Health, Nagoya City University School of Nursing consists of two faculty members and four master course students (as of February 1, 2016) with diverse experiences. (We are now preparing for accepting doctoral students.) We strive to keep multidisciplinary environment and to think together about social aspects of people’s health.
The department is responsible for teaching "Epidemiology", "Basic Statistics", "Behavioral Science" and "Global Health", for undergraduate and master course students.
For research, we employ public health approaches. Dr. Michiyo Higuchi has worked on access to health in resource-limited settings, and Dr. Noriyo Kaneko has expertise in sexual health promotion and prevention study on HIV/AIDS among MSM. The department members hold a study meeting (reviews on members’ research progress, journal club and others) twice a month.
We aim to study connections between people’s health and community, society as well as the world, then to take actions, even each of which might be small, based on what we have learned.
