Support for Physiological Analysis
Head of the Group
Kazutaka Ikeda (Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science)
Activity
Our support includes:
- Behavioral analysis of a comprehensive behavioral analysis, in vivo calcium imaging experiment, maintaining the mice under SPF conditions and breeding mice.
- Analysis of examining the relationship between the polymorphism and the susceptibility test of the controlled substances (clinical data), and pharmacological analysis support for analyzing behavior on genetically modified animals of susceptibility to drugs such as addictive drugs.
- Analyze the determined and operated cell function with the cutting-edge optical technology.
- Analyze multidimensional physiological function using multifunctional and integrated electrodes.
Characteristics
1. Support for behavioral analysis
We conduct the following support at Institute for Comprehensive Medical Science, Fujita Health University (Tsuyoshi Miyakawa) or Organization for Promotion of Research Administration Center for Promotion of Research, University of Toyama (Keizo Takao).
- Analyze a comprehensive behavior of genetically modified mice or drug-administered mice. (Fujita Health University and University of Toyama)
- If we determine some kind of phenotypes in the comprehensive behavioral analysis:
We will conduct the additional behavioral experiment that is not included in the comprehensive behavioral analysis. (Fujita Health University and University of Toyama), and conduct additional in vivo Calcium imaging experiment of the mice exercising the target action. (Fujita Health University)
We are capable to simultaneously record the activity of the several nerve cells in mice in free action using the apparatus from Inscopix, Inc. - If an applicant cannot prepare mice for analysis, we maintain the mice under SPF conditions, and breeding mice for the analysis. (In cooperation with National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation)
The Application Procedure (Japanese Only)
2. Support for pharmacological analysis
We conduct the following support at Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science. (Kazutaka Ikeda)
- Examine the link between the genes and susceptibility of the controlled substances through extracting and analyzing the genetic data of the applicant’s interest using clinical data of the conventional susceptibility test of the controlled substances, genome specimen, and the related database.
- Administer various controlled substances (or new synthetic compound) to the genetically modified animals of the applicant’s interest to determine the change in active movement.
- If the genetically modified animals of the applicant’s interest have a high possibility of developing a symptom of abnormal susceptibility of the controlled substances according to the above or the conventional research, we provide additional specialized analysis such as measurement of extracellular monoamine level based on the intracerebral microdialysis and the intracerebral self-stimulation test. Also we provide biological specimen (animal brains etc.) that has been administered the controlled substances etc.
The Application Procedure (Japanese Only)
3. Support for operation analysis using the optical technology
We conduct the following support at the Graduate School of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Tokyo (Haruhiko Bito)
- Detect and operate the multi-dimentional optical signal for cell function.
- Develop and provide reagents used for detecting light signal (R-CaMP2, a high-affinity red genetically encoded calcium indicator (GECI)) as well as used in optogenetical operating method (ChR2 etc.).
- Any other support above related to optical technology.
The Application Procedure (Japanese Only)
4. Support for analyzing the obtained data using multi-functional electrodes
We provide the following technical support related to research resources in neurophysiology at Tohoku University School of Medicine. (Hajime Mushiake)
Please refer to: http://www.biomdl.ecei.tohoku.ac.jp/physio-shien
- Multiple electrodes for recording activities of several nerve cells.
- Electrodes made of tungsten polyurea insulating films capable for placing the metallic electrode for a long time.
- * Multiple independent light stimulation devices to conduct light simulation carried out by channelrhodopsin under the microscope.
Note: Applicant is required to prepare a set of microscope. Also the applicant need to consult with us about setting up the intended set of microscope.
- * Facility for small animals to experience the virtual reality. (Device for a wide-visual display action target and its software)
- * Fiber for intracerebral imaging. (Imaging system using micro-fiber to record the data in the deep brain.)
Phorometer and pupil analyzer (For humans. It has a function to simply present target (display view), and to output the eye positions, pupil diameters, presence or absence of events, and time stamps in excel format.
*Please be noted the support services above with * mark were limited to those who can afford the charge, who can accept the limited quantity, and who can conduct a collaborative research.
