Support for Animal Model Construction
Head of the Group
Ryoji Yao (Cancer Institute)
Activity
We prepare and provide genetically modified animals (mice and rats) upon requests from researchers.
We use various technologies such as homologous recombination and genome editing to introduce gene knockout (conventional/conditional) and genetic modifications (insert, replace, introduce a point mutation, and transgenic.)
Also we are flexible to work on to introduce additional mutation to the established mutant animals (spontaneous mutation and genetically mutation), allele conversion as well as in vivo genome editing.
Please contact to the Office for Animal Model Construction Support for more information of the support description, technical arrangements, and detail of the open application.
Eligible Researcher
We look forward to receiving applications from researchers who were funded by MEXT's Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (new or continued) in FY 2021.
We accept all research categories and research fields. We will set up a special quota to accept young scientists having adopted by Grant-in-Aid for Young Scientists (S) or (A) or (B).
We are scheduled to accept applications twice a year.
Examples
- Introduce mutation into ES cells (Homologous recombination, genome editing)
- Establish animal models using modified ES cells including IKMC cell.
- Genome editing in Zygotes
- In vivo genome editing
Note:
- Applicant is required to deposit the genetically modified animals that constructed for the applicant in public resource centers in Japan after the publication of the academic paper or three years after the applicant received the animals, whichever the earlier. Our support group, supported by the public fund, encourages effective use of such biological resources.
- Applicant must obtain the applicant’s institution's consent of acceptance in order to deliver the genetically modified animals.
- Please include an acknowledgement of "Advanced Animal Model Support" upon publication of the applicant’s paper.
