President Kengo Kisa
The 15th Annual Conference of Japan Primary Care Association
President Dr.Kengo Kisa
Kutchan-Kosei General Hospital, Department of General Medicine,
Japan Primary Care Association Hokkaido Block Chapter Chairpersons

We are pleased to announce that the 16th Annual Congress of the Japanese Society for Primary Care Alliances will be held from 20(Fri.) to 22 (Sun.) June 2025, mainly at the Sapporo Convention Center in Hokkaido. This will be the first time in 14 years to be held in Hokkaido since the 2nd conference in 2011.

In Hokkaido which contains a huge land area of the northern Japan, its population continues to centralize in the urban areas. On the other hand, rural areas are facing a declining and aging population. Those who live in the rural areas have to travel long distances to the urban areas. Therefore, primary care in Hokkaido has to be based on their own regional characteristics. Healthcare professionals engaged in primary care also face a variety of situations, and there are many areas that lack healthcare professionals.

The theme of this year's conference is
“Appropriate Primary Care: Adapting to Communities and Providers”.
Primary care takes various forms depending on the target area and, therefore, needs to be provided in a way that suits the needs of the healthcare professionals there.

Since it is practically impossible for each healthcare professional to provide “perfection in everything” of primary care, he is recommended to perform in a comfortable and realistic manner. By considering appropriate primary care tailored to the needs of the community, we believe that we can lower the entry barriers for new primary care providers or allow providers in the field to continue without difficulties.

Primary care is a medical specialty that requires the involvement of many people, not just a few talented individuals. We hope that not only the presenters of the general topics, but also beginners and first-time attendees will enjoy the conference.

We are now preparing to use this opportunity to increase the number of primary care colleagues and consider the form of primary care practice appropriate for each field. The conference is held at the most beautiful time of year in Sapporo.
We are also planning to offer you “Omotenashi” (Japanese hospitality), which you can only experience in Hokkaido.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Hokkaido.
