〈感想〉
6月9日は10月から始まったビブリオバトルの最終発表日でした！今回は、原田先生にお勧めしたい本がテーマとなり、それぞれが思い思いの本を紹介しました。それが、上の表のラインナップです。私は、お勧めするのなら「まずは自分が好きな本を紹介したい」と考え、村上春樹の新作、「街とその不確かな壁」を紹介しました。ほかにも、原田先生に「癒しを与えたい！」「Tik Tokで話題になっている本を紹介したい！」「読んでみてすごく面白かったからぜひ読んでほしい！」など、皆さんさまざまな理由で、本を紹介してくれました。私個人も興味をひかれた本がたくさんあったので、ぜひ読んでみようと思います。 また、今回が最終月ということで、全6回のビブリオバトルを終えました。私はビブリオバトルをしてみてよかったなと思うことが大きく２つあります。まずは、嗜好に偏見がなくなったことです。今までは哲学やアートなどには全く興味がなく、本屋さんに行くと、手に取るのは小説の本ばかりでした。しかし、実際にこのような機会に読んでみることで、意外と面白いんだと気づくことができました。多様性が尊重される現代では、幅広い教養を持つことで、多くの出会いや発見につながるはずです。ビブリオバトルを通して、その少しの抵抗を取り払うきっかけにできたことが、非常にやってよかったと思う理由になりました。 2つ目に、文章を読む機会にできたことです。そもそも私は、大学生になってから、本を読むことがほとんどありませんでした。そのため、文章から意味を推測したり、主張をまとめたりする力が自分でも感じるほど低くなっていました。また、集中できる時間も短くなっていることに気付きました。しかし、今回のビブリオバトルで、意味のある文章を読む機会ができたことで、「読む力」「推測する力」がついたような気がします。そして何より、本を読む楽しさをもう一度感じることができました。 最後に、ビブリオバトルは今回が最後になりましたが、本を読むことで自分の考え方や自分自身をも豊かにすることができると改めて知る良いきっかけとなりました。そのため、今後もいろいろな本を読むことを継続し、自分をもっと豊かにする旅に出たいと思います！

June 9th was the final presentation day for the Biblio Battle that began in October! This time, the theme was “Books You Would Recommend to Professor Harada”, and everyone introduced their own chosen books. The line-up of these books is displayed in the table above. If I were to make a recommendation, I’d want to start with a book I enjoy. So, I introduced Haruki Murakami’s new work, “The Town and Its Uncertain Walls.” Others suggested books because they wanted to “provide healing to Professor Harada,” “introduce a book that’s trending on Tik Tok,” or “share a book that they found really interesting and hope others would read,” amongst other reasons. There were many books that piqued my interest, and I plan on reading them.
Also, as this was the final month, we’ve completed all six Biblio Battle sessions. I think there are two major reasons why I’m glad I participated in it. The first is that it rid me of my biased tastes. I used to have no interest in philosophy or art, and when I visited bookstores, I would only pick up novels. However, by reading these books for this occasion, I realized they were unexpectedly interesting. In our diverse modern society, having a broad range of knowledge should lead to many encounters and discoveries. Participating in the Biblio Battle gave me the opportunity to overcome my initial resistance, which I’m very glad for.
Secondly, it created opportunities for me to read. As a matter of fact, since I became a university student, I have hardly read any books. Thus, my skills in interpreting meanings from texts and summarizing arguments had weakened noticeably. I also noticed that my ability to focus for extended periods had diminished. However, through the Biblio Battle, I feel like I’ve gained “reading power” and “inferential skills” by being given meaningful reading opportunities. More importantly, I was able to rediscover the joy of reading.
Lastly, while this was the final Biblio Battle, it was a great opportunity to re-realize how reading books can enrich my thoughts and me. Therefore, I want to continue reading various books and embark on a journey to enrich myself even more!
