Overseas Exchange Center (OVEX)
Characteristics

OVEX aims to develop global human resources. It promotes international exchanges among medical staff, such as overseas training and visits from foreign medical staff and researchers. OVEX also supports foreign visitors to ensure that they have a comfortable and meaningful stay.

Staff

OVEX has a director, a vice-director, a medical staff, 2 international coordinators, and an administrative assistant.

Overview
  • Planning and coordination of international visits and exchanges
  • Arranging visits for medical staff to/from foreign universities or hospitals
  • Receiving and supporting foreign doctors, engineers and researchers, and providing training for them
  • Providing support for international joint research
  • Supporting remote communication with foreign hospitals
  • Supporting and developing overseas partnerships
  • Building a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for international exchanges and joint research
  • Supporting and developing procedures for international exchanges, including visas, accommodation, travel fees and salaries.
  • Ensuring consistency of contact for overseas exchanges in Kyushu University Hospital
Telemedicine Development Center of Asia (TEMDEC)
Characteristics

This center aims to establish effective and consistent medical communications among Asian countries, using super-fast Internet and advanced technology.

Staff

TEMDEC has a director, 2 doctors, a lecturer, 2 research fellows, 3 technical staffs, 2 international coordinators, and an administrative assistant.

International Patient Support Center (IPAC)
Characteristics

Our aim is to serve as a leading medical institution in Asia, contributing to the global community by offering cutting-edge Japanese medical services to a diverse range of "international patients." These patients include 1) foreigners residing overseas, 2) Japanese nationals residing overseas, and 3) foreigners residing in Japan. We strive to deliver timely and appropriate care to meet their needs.

Staff

The Center operates under the guidance of the Director, assisted by a Deputy Director and 2 administrative staff members, all concurrently, along with a full-time physician, 2 interpreters (English and Chinese), and an administrative assistant.

Duties
  • Providing language support services within the hospital premises through our team of medical interpreters and interpreter tablet terminals
  • Managing the Secretariat functions for the “National University Hospital Medical Cooperation Network”
  • Offering Overseas Remote Second Opinion services
  • Conducting educational initiatives aimed at fostering religious and intercultural understanding
  • Participating in the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's initiative, "Medical Interpreter Base Hospital for the Project to Improve the Environment for Accepting International Patients"
  • Collaborating with various entities such as Fukuoka Prefecture, local municipalities, and medical associations to support medical internationalization efforts
Specific Duties

・Providing interpretation and translation services
・Compiling statistics on International patients
・Offering consultations for international patients via the International Patient Support Center, IPAC's website
・Operations related to Overseas Remote Second Opinion services
・Conducting seminars regarding International patients
・Fulfilling duties related to JMIP audits, including manual preparation and other tasks related to medical safety
・Facilitating liaison and coordination with International patient coordination companies
