A new paper from the Sawamoto group has been published in eLife. This study suggests the existence of a systemic regulatory mechanism in which blood flow—responsible for transporting information throughout the body and dynamically changing in response to environmental conditions—controls localized neuronal regeneration in the brain. Furthermore, applying this mechanism to the treatment of brain injuries in humans may lead to a novel medical approach that promotes neuronal regeneration through the modulation of blood flow.

Congratulations!
