誤謬推理

(ごびゅうすいり fallacy)

The more abstract - that is, the more extensive the proposition is, the more liable is it to involve a fallacy. 一見もっともらしいが、よく吟味すると筋の通っていない論証のこと。 本来、前提から結論へといたる推論が妥当でない ような議論を指すが、 広い意味では、推論ではなく前提に問題がある場合も指す。

有名な誤謬推理の形式がいくつかあるが、 たとえば前件否定の誤謬(後件否定を見よ)、 後件肯定の誤謬(前件肯定を見よ)、 時間的な前後関係を因果関係とみなす誤謬(post hoc ergo propter hoc, after the fact, therefore because of the fact)、 論点先取(petitio principii, circular argument, begging the question) などがある。

倫理学において有名な問題は、 「である」から「べき」を導きだすことができるか というヒュームが提起した問題と (このページ)を参照、 ムーア自然主義的 誤謬の問題があるが、 それ以外にも、自然に訴える議論や、 すべり坂議論相対主義など、 一見もっともらしいが誤りを含んだ議論が多くある。 倫理学者の仕事の一つは、倫理的な議論に見られるこうした誤謬を指摘する ことにあると言える。
