| 演 題： | Understanding the Role of Human Judgments in Applicant Selection for the Study of Medicine: Achieving Shared Values using Interviews, Admission Committees, and Empirical Models

| 概 要： | Human judgment is used in various ways for selecting among applicants to study medicine. Research allows certain evidence-based conclusions about the contribution of the admission interview, MMIs, and admission committee. Although much of our admissions research has focused on the reliability and validity of various measures used in the selection process, the final decision is ultimately the most consequential. How we use applicant information to make a decision is an important but neglected question. A review of the literature will provide a better understanding of how judgments impact the final decision to admit an applicant. We will consider why subjective judgments are preferred at many medical schools and point out an important and unanswered question regarding this preference. A validity research design is presented to help quantify the contribution of an admission committee when selecting applicants. 医学部入学者を選抜するためには，いくつかの判断が用いられる．研究により， 面接，Multiple-mini interview（MMI – OSCEのように数個以上のステーション からなる入試面接），入試委員会の貢献度に関するエビデンスについて結論が得られてき た．入試に関する研究の多くが，選抜プロセスに用いられる測定手法の信頼性・ 妥当性に焦点を当ててきたが，最終決断が究極的に重要である．志願者の情報を どのように最終決断に用いているかは，重要だが軽視されてきた質問であろう． 文献レビューにより，志願者を入学させるための決断にどのようなインパクトが 与えられてきたかに関して，よりよい理解がなされるであろう．多くの医学部に おいて主観的な判断が好まれる理由を考え，さらに重要な疑問点を我々は指摘す るつもりである．そして，入学者選抜において入試委員会の貢献度を量的に測定 しやすくするための妥当性に関する研究デザインを示したい． |
