Kofu is located in central of Yamanashi Prefecture and about 100km west of Tokyo. Kofu is associated with Takeda Shingen, one of the famous general in the the16th century and Kofu City is the seat of the Yamanashi Prefectural Government. The area has many sightseeing spots connected to Takeda Shingen, such as Takeda-jinja Shrine which is dedicated to the general and Kai-zenko-ji Temple, and passes on the history and traditions of that era to the present day.
Around the venue
Fuefuki and Koshu area is located in the east of Kofu and one of leading production areas of peach and grapes in Japan. You can enjoy fruit picking from August to October in this area. And also, the region is known as a wine producing area. Koshu wine, known throughout the world, was first made in Katsunuma in 1877 by Masanari Takano and Tatsunori Tsuchiya after studying vinification in France. About 50% of Japan’s domestic wine is produced in this area.
Fujisan (Mt. Fuji) area is located in southern of Kofu. Fujisan is the highest mountain in Japan and is swathed in woodland, the most well-known being Aokigahara Forest, also called the ‘sea of trees’, and wilderness. The area also has the Fuji Five Lakes – Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Yamanaka, Lake Sai, Lake Shoji and Lake Motosu, which were dammed by volcanic lava flows. You can enjoy the natural beauty created by volcanic formations.
Getting there
By plane
From Narita Airport, the fastest way to reach Kofu is to take the Narita Express train to Shinjuku Station and transfer to the Chuo Main Line Limited Express Azusa or Kaiji service. (3 1/4 hours) From Haneda Airport, take the Keikyu Line train to Shinagawa, then the Yamanote line train to Shinjuku Station. From there, the Chuo Main Line Limited Express Azusa or Kaiji service. (2 1/2 hours). A cheaper trip is to continue up the Yamanote to Ueno station and change to the JR Utsunomiya commuter line (3 hours).
High way bus from Airport
The cheaper way is to take High way bus between JR Kofu Station and both Narita Airport (4 hours, Yamanashi Kotsu, Chiba Kotsu) and Haneda Airport (3 hours, Yamanashi Kotsu, Keikyu Bus).

It is certainly understood that abstracts by authors who have not registered cannot be accepted.
