SENDAI AND MATSUSHIMA

13/AUG/2003

Day One: Sendai

No photos available.

Day Two: Sendai and Nobiru

[at sendai castle]

[At Sendai Castle]

Actually Sendai Castle is no more, due to earthquakes and typhoons over time and the damage incurred during the second world war. This is a picture of the shrine nearby.

[masamune kitty]

[Masamune Kitty]

Hello Kitty dressed up as Masamune Date (left), one of the most famous warloads in Japan (1567-1636).

[typhoon]

[Typhoon]

A scar of a typhoon...just kidding.

[tohoku university]

[Tohoku University]

Tohoku University's faculty of engineering (technology) has a good reputation, I hear.

The notice board says `parking lot for bicycles, for the students of mechanical and intelligent kind' (joking...mechanics and (artificial) intelligence departments, I suppose).

[typhoon2] [Typhoon 2]

This really is a photo of a town (Nobiru, Oku-Matsushima) right in the middle of a big typhoon.
