JANS provides facility for processing donations to Great Eastern Japan Earthquake relief

The Japan Academy of Nursing Science expresses its deepest sympathy to all those affected by the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake.

As part of its operations in support of relief for the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake, the Japan Academy of Nursing Science has established a Disaster Relief Processing Office.

The Academy has the largest scale of all the nursing academies and currently is the only organization among the nursing academies that has legal status as a public interest corporation. The Academy, therefore, is accredited for tax-exempt status of donations. Facing the unprecedented situation, the JANS Chairperson, Board of Directors and office staff are working together in close cooperation as representatives of the public interest corporation to implement this relief aspect of the Academy’s business. It is anticipated that the Disaster Relief Processing Office set up by the Japan Academy of Nursing Science will also be used widely by the other member academies of the Japan Association of Nursing Academies (JANA).

The Japan Association of Nursing Academies is organically deploying the disaster support business through liaison with each nursing academy, spreading support activities by applying research results, coordinating with organizations involved, and using the membership network. As the only member of the Association that is a public interest corporation, the Japan Academy of Nursing Science will receive, disburse and manage the disaster relief donations, preventing duplication of office operations of each academy and maximizing efforts through coordination of organizations.

The donation will in principle only be used for business related to disaster relief (information gathering, direct and indirect support, information dissemination business, etc.) conducted by the members of the Japan Academy of Nursing Science and the Japan Association of Nursing Academies, and any capital remaining at conclusion of relief-related activities will be managed in accordance with the resolution passed by the Representatives meeting.
