When I asked local people about any good places to paint, a painter said I should visit to Kitsuki(杵築).
Kitsuki is located in the north-eastern part of Oita prefecture.
After the feudal lord constructed Kitsuki Castle in 1394, this place prospered as a castle town in the Edo era (1603-1868).
Although there are few old buildings remaining today in Japan, you can enjoy taking a walk around in traditional Japanese outfits.

With a hat I borrowed from a woman there, I wondered around the town and sketched. This oil painting was made based on the sketches and pictures.
