Objective:The aim of the present study was to review published quantitative studies
assess the validity of introducing routine screening for DV into the perinatal
setting in Japan.
Method:The National Guideline Clearinghouse database, HSTAT, Medline , CINAHL,
the Cochrane Library and the Ichushi-Web were searched for eligible primary
studies and systematic reviews from the beginning of each database until
February 2003.
Two reviewers independently read and appraised each selected
article for the quality of the research. Then the level of evidence was
identified, that was 1a though 5, using the Oxford Centre for Evidence-based
Medicine Levels of Evidence (2001). Consensus was reached by discussion.
Among 158 selected articles, twelve primary studies and three systematic
reviews were focused on chosen three criteria on screening for DV: three
studies and two systematic reviews examined screening tools; three studies
and one systematic reviews reported the use of screening tools; and six
primary studies and three systematic reviews examined interventions for
abused women.
